Aging-in-place is the term used to describe a person's ability to live in the home of their choice, (whether a house, apartment, condo, etc.) for as long as they are able as they age. This definition also provides for a person's ability to access any of the services they need over time, as their needs change. The ability to stay in one's home longer is something we all strive for as we age. A recent study by the National Aging in Place Council (NAIPC) indicated that more than 90% of older adults would prefer to age-in-place rather than move to some sort of senior housing living situation. New technologies and building techniques can make staying in our homes longer much more possible.
